Andrey Gudkov, a wildlife photographer based in Russia, frequently embarks on expeditions to some of the most challenging regions in Africa and Indonesia, including Zambia, Borneo, and Rinca Island. His work has been recognized by National Geographic, and he is a member of the Royal Photographic Society and the International Federation of Photographic Art. A selection of his rare wildlife photographs is featured in a publication from Depositphotos.
Gudkov’s passion for wildlife and nature began in childhood. Over the years, he has developed a distinctive style through extensive exploration and long-term expeditions.
He believes that understanding animal behavior, meticulous preparation, and taking calculated risks are essential for capturing extraordinary wildlife photographs.
“In wildlife photography, risk is an inherent factor. However, any risk must be justified. No photograph, no matter how spectacular, is worth sacrificing a human life,” says Gudkov.
Among his notable achievements are capturing images of wrestling Komodo dragons (which earned him the title of “Wildlife Photographer of the Year” in 2015), interacting with lion cubs, and swimming with whales. More of his unique wildlife photographs can be found in his portfolio.
